Those were the first words that left my mouth when I found this house in Kerniel.
Not only did I fall in love with the characterful house, but also with the magnificent view that welcomed me into the garden. Grandiose, dreamy: as if I was on vacation. I felt like I discovered a piece of Tuscany in Limburg, Belgium.
With me, a little hedgehog relished in all that beauty. That’s why our vacation home is called ‘Egelhuisje’, which is Dutch for ‘little hedgehog house’. The hedgehog often came back, to rest or to hibernate. Together, we felt at peace.
And although my idea was to live alone with a cat, a dog, two chickens and a hedgehog, I now live in a village nearby with my lovely partner Dave and our dog Izzy. We still love coming home to our holiday home, where the cosiness, the beautiful surroundings with many walking trails and wonderful neighbours ensure that we can now relax here together.
